What Choice Do We Have?
I’m fortunate to say that I wasn’t around in the business world to see the last time something like this happened financially.
However, I was told that during these times there were some businesses that were closed down and then there were other businesses that flourished.
As I sit here considering that we are at the beginning stages of all of this unknown there is a temptation to freeze up, watch the news and just accept defeat.
I for one, don’t want to just sit back and be a victim.
I want to be a business that thrives during this difficult season.
Smart people put their heads together and figure out how to overcome obstacles and find opportunities.
Here is what we know:
- People are going to get quarantined – some already are in quarantine.
- Because people are in quarantine they are going to be bored and because of that they are going to be spending A LOT MORE time on their phones, computers and televisions
- Because other businesses are freaking out they will probably stop advertising which means that the cost of advertising will go DOWN. Less demand = less you pay to advertise.
Here are some opportunities:
- If you sell a product online, you are in really good shape right now. I would 100% offer delivery and offer to deliver the product how they want. (For example: they may want you to leave it at the doorstep)
- This is an opportunity to establish yourself as an authority in whatever space that you are in. Meaning you need to be publishing quality content for people to read and know that you are an expert in your field.
- I have already seen people that I know on social media making changes to their house. They are bored and are getting around to projects that they haven’t touched in years. (You want to be ready for their call)
- Again, people are going to be ONLINE. You need to be showing up and staying in front of them, even if it’s just with great educational content that establishes you as an expert. I bet open rates will go way up on emails because people are BORED.
These are just a few of the opportunities that I see.
