What Choice Do You Have When Business Slows Down?
Every contractor hits a slow stretch. Maybe it’s the season, maybe it’s the economy, maybe the phone just goes quiet for a few weeks.
There’s a temptation to freeze up. Watch the news, cut the marketing, wait it out.
I don’t want that for you. Some companies shrink in a slow stretch. Others use it to get ahead. The difference is usually what they do while it’s quiet.
Here’s what I know:
- Homeowners don’t stop looking. They’re still searching, reading reviews and planning projects.
- When competitors pull back on ads, fewer companies are bidding on the same searches.
- People have time to think, and that’s when bigger projects get planned.
Here’s where I’d put your energy:
- Show up as the expert. Keep publishing quality content so homeowners know you know your trade before they ever call.
- Be ready for the projects. A lot of homeowners are finally getting around to projects that they haven’t touched in years. You want to be ready for their call.
- Stay in front of past customers. A short, friendly note reminds them you’re still around.
- Answer the phone. A slow stretch is the worst time to miss a call you already paid for.
